I dropped out after my second year (end of 1998) and started
working as a hardware technician. I did that for a year and
started programming in Visual Basic 6 at the end of 1999.
I started working with .NET a couple of months before it was
released (still in beta) and I have never looked back.
I am currently working for one of SA's biggest IT companies
as a Senior .NET developer and I am based at the client, one
of SA's leading financial institutions. Although I do not get
to work with anything 'crypto' related on a day to day basis
I do like working on it at home. DirectX related stuff is also
alot of fun!

I am employed as a Senior .NET developer, developing web and
desktop apps for our client, a financial services institution.
I do find myself configuring servers very often, reinstalling
desktops, and designing databases etc that I can't recall seeing
in my employment contract.

I guess my career is also sort of my hobby. That's probably
why I love my job. I do however enjoy programming topics that
big corporates hardly ever do inhouse, like encryption, security
related applications and any other fascinating programming goodies
that you hardly ever find at the big companies. I used to have
an offroad motorcycle that I enjoyed very much but after leaving
a 36 stitch cut in one of my knees I gave that up. I do want
to buy a radio controlled helicopter one of these days! I love
spending time with my family!
