Phishers attack adult webcam site

Another week, another surprising attack from cyber criminals. This time the phishers are trying their best to scam people who use a site that makes use of an adult webcam. The site is iFriends, and is a chat community that uses video as its main form of communication. The site, which apparently has 2 million users, has a number of chat rooms that have an x-rated or adult theme.

Emails that phishers send out try and get potential victims to change their information on iFriends. They convince users by asking them to update their data. Of course the website that they claim users need to go to in order to update their details is a fake website where victims are asked to give away personal details like credit card numbers, passwords and user names. The site even asks for PINs.

Sophos' Graham Cluley, a technology consultant says that Internet users need to understand that it isn't just bankers that are targeted by phishers but anyone who uses any kind of online company.
