Can't find a thawte Notary?

The Trusted Third Party (TTP) process is designed for people who do not have any thawte Notaries in their area but would like to get their identities validated. For these individuals, thawte provides a US$25 alternative process to the thawte Web of Trust verification system which involves Trusted Third Party verification. The Trusted Third Parties that you can use are attorneys, certified public accountants, online validated US Notary Publics and bank managers. They must be reputable and established professionals whose identity can be verified by thawte independently and who can be trusted to verify your identity. Click here to read the TTP Rules.

This alternative validation process is available to anyone, anywhere in the world who is already enrolled in our Freemail Personal Certificate System and who is not yet a thawte Notary. Go here to see if there is a thawte Notary in your area. If you are still in doubt, please contact us.

Individuals who have their identities validated in this way will be issued with 100 points, which means that they will be able to obtain personal Freemail certificates containing their name. Also, they can become thawte Notaries for the Web of Trust, with the ability to issue points to people whose identities they validate.

In order to have your identity validated you are required to take two forms of nationally recognized photo identity to two different Trusted Third Parties, and either post or fax completed validation forms to thawte . Entering Your thawte Web of Trust Contact Details (Special Characters)

thawte has developed a system that allows Web of Trust thawte Notaries to enter their contact information in a safe and secure manner.

The following "special" tags will now be recognized:
#AHREF# - gets replaced by <A HREF="
#CLOSE# - gets replaced by ">
#/A# - gets replaced by </A>

Special tags are case sensitive and for use only in the contact section.

NOTE: The text you enter will have new lines as you have entered it into the text box, so
tags are not supported.

The following are some examples of how to use them:

1. Adding in a link to your web page.
   You would add the following text to the contact details box: #AHREF#http://www.mypage.com#CLOSE#click here to see my page.#/A#
2. Adding a mailto link.
   #AHREF#mailto:your@email.address#CLOSE#your email address#/A#
