What is the Thawte® Trusted Site Seal?

The Thawte® Trusted Site Seal is a piece of JavaScript™ that can be added to any web page in your secured domain. A dynamic image of the trust mark displays on the page where it is installed. When a visitor clicks the Thawte Trusted Site Seal, the script checks with Thawte to make sure you have an SSL certificate and displays your validated information on the seal verification page.

Why should I add a trust mark to my web site?

When you accept credit card numbers online or ask users to create an account, you need to show that your web site can be trusted. The Thawte Trusted Site Seal is a trust mark that gives your web site instant credibility in the online world by visually reassuring customers that your site’s identity has been verified and that it is secured with SSL.

How do users confirm that the Thawte® Trusted Site Seal is legitimate?

Users click the Thawte Trusted Site Seal on web pages in your secured domain to confirm your site’s identity. A seal verification page opens in a new browser window and shows verified information.

Is the Thawte Trusted Site Seal available in different languages?

The Thawte Trusted Site Seal is a globally recognized trust mark, available for display in 18 different languages. Choose the language preferred by your customers when you download your site seal. If you have multiple sites in different languages, download an appropriate seal for each site.

How do I add a Thawte Trusted Site Seal to my Web site?

The Thawte Trusted Site Seal is included free with the purchase of a Thawte® SSL Certificate [link /ssl/index.html] (not available with Wildcard SSL Certificates). Once you have installed your SSL certificate, follow the instructions to Install Your Thawte Trusted Site Seal. Choose the size and language most appropriate for your web site.

Where is the best place to put the Thawte Trusted Site Seal?

Thawte recommends adding the seal script to your secured home page, buy page, sign-in page, and all other pages in your secured domain where customers need assurance. The seal will display within about 2 hours after installation and show that your site is secured by Thawte.

What should I do if the Thawte Trusted Site Seal does not display?

It should display within 2 hours of installation of your validated SSL certificate. If your seal does not display, confirm that the page with the seal is located within the domain secured by the common name you used when you applied for the SSL certificate. Why is the Thawte Trusted Site Seal not available with Wildcard SSL Certificates?

Thawte® Wildcard SSL Certificates secure multiple subdomains with a single SSL Certificate using the wildcard notation (an asterisk and period before your domain name). Because the exact domain name cannot be determined from the SSL certificate information, Thawte Trusted Site Seal is not supported with a Wildcard SSL Certificate.
